An Open Plan Kitchen

An Enticing Menu.

Many service companies have great looking websites, professionally produced and with an enticing menu to choose.

A sales lead will help you choose, and then depending on what you purchased a combination of schedules, service agreements and status reports will be issued and reviewed at set points (e.g. the monthly service review).

When we set up Cloudpush (www.cloudpush.co.uk) we could have built our business on this established model but were mindful of Jeff Bezos (Amazon) views on a ‘Day 1’ business.

Bezos is committed to maintaining a business culture that will continue to innovate, create and look outwardly towards successful trends. Day 2 brings comfort and contentment with how things have been. That’s why Amazon maintains a “never Day 2” attitude. “Day 2 is stasis. Followed by irrelevance. Followed by excruciating, painful decline. Followed by death. And that is why it is always Day 1.” (Jeff Bezos).

We decided to apply that ‘Day 1’ approach to Cloudpush and looked around for inspiration and found it in the explosion of open plan kitchens in restaurants. Open plan kitchens let diners see food being made, that builds trust and helps to increase quality as the chef and team are on display. In a good restaurant the staff love being able to share their culinary skills, meet the diners and to be part of the theatre of eating out.

It doesn’t work for all restaurants, diners in some fast-food chains are subconsciously aware that much of their food will be frozen and mass produced. That doesn’t necessarily mean that they want to watch employees unpackaging sacks of nuggets before pitching them into a fryer!

We started out with a very nice website that clearly described our comprehensive services, but decided it wasn’t as good as we wanted it to be so completely redesigned and re-built it. It took us just 2 weeks as we have our own in-house web-design and graphic arts team (it’s one of our services). We now think it looks awesome and aligns more closely to our vision and core values.

However, its main purpose is to give our clients access to a very comprehensive, integrated and real-time set of systems. Our website is very much a restaurant with an open plan and interactive kitchen! Our clients can access sales, billing, project and service information in real-time. They can raise requests, cases, queries, track status, generate reports and pretty much anything they want. We wanted to make it as transparent as possible as we know that will build confidence and help to raise our game. It also reduces costs, and we pass that benefit onto our clients in terms of much lower prices and a very high-quality service.

We know that this is just the start and are working with our clients to develop this concept much further, and we are determined to stay a ‘Day 1’ business!

If you would like to know more please reach out to us, we promise no sales pitch. If you’re interested in trusting us with a project or services that’s great but we also just like to meet people for a coffee and chat. If you’re interested in working with us (we don’t use the term ‘for’) now, or possibly in the future, drop ‘virtually’ by for a coffee, use our website contact page or just write to us at [email protected].
